Tucson is a 6 year old Fjord x Quarter Horse gelding standing a thick and sturdy 15.2 hands high. If you need safe, slow, and steady, there isn’t a better horse out there. Tucson is broke and educated under both English and western tack. He well versed in ranch work, reliable on the trails, and safe enough for absolutely anyone to ride – even bareback and bridleless! Tucson has been used for weekend camping trips, as a pickup horse at the rodeo, 4H for our kids, local shows, and as a guest horse for our friends and family to go on the trails with. He is gentle in every way, sensible, and above all SAFE for anyone in any situation.
In the ring, Tucson is a steady eddy. He goes at the pace you set, and listens well to what is asked of him. He neck reins, knows his lateral work, and listens to leg and seat cues. He will never go faster than you want to go, and is forgiving and tolerant of nervous, timid, or confidence lacking riders. He has good brakes, easy transitions, and picks up the correct leads. He is comfortable and has easy to ride gaits. He can safely pack around the children, while still being fun for the more adventurous rider. He can do a bit of dressage, working equitation, or trail classes. He has the brain and foundation for mounted patrol, therapeutic riding, or film work.
On the trails and off property, Tucson is the best! He is the same in all situations and has nit put a foot wrong for us. He is the definition of a trail master, and can be trusted with any rider. He has been ridden in all terrain, through town, and in water. He is an asset on camping trips, and can be a pack horse, pony other horses, and has been sensible in all sorts of scenarios. He will trail ride alone or in a group, and has been ridden around hounds too! We have taken him out to work the squirrel and coon hounds on various occasions, so a transition to a fox hunter would be an easy one! Tucson will pop over logs, ditches, and walls in the field. He is simple to load up and go to new places, and has great trailer manners. The kids have done some 4h showing, play days, and gymkhanas with him, and he has been a safe and reliable mount for them to learn and ahem fun on.
In the barn, Tucson is a love bug who enjoys attention. He is the type that will fall asleep while being braided and groomed, and will always be a gentleman for the usual barn activities. He is a good boy for the vet and farrier, and is the easiest of keepers. Tucson is happy living inside or out, and is the same if he’s ridden every day or once a month. He never requires any prep and stays quiet no matter the schedule
